Common Seal From Adams Rubber Stamps Melbourne

Common Seals

What are common seals? A common seal, also known as company seal or corporate seal is an official mark used by an organization. It signifies the unique identity of a particular company. Common seals are mainly used by companies in common law

jurisdictions or in certifying legal documentation.

While the passing of the Company Law Review Act 1988 removed the requirement which mandates companies to have a common seal, companies established prior to 1988 still comply as mandated by the company’s constitution.

Although no longer a legal requirement, many companies today still choose to use a common seal for its benefits. For example, a common seal can give more authenticity to documents for people unaccustomed with the Australian way of executing documents. If an organization has several overseas customers, having a common seal is an effective way of showing legality and legitimacy.

To have one’s common seal imprint, you need to have a stamp. This stamp is uniquely designed to create an imprint upon paper and is used by government offices, companies and notaries public to indicate that the document is genuinely carried out, accepted or witnessed since the seal is exclusive to the company.

Common Seals standard format is round and includes the full company name, followed by the abbreviation for “Australian Company Number” A.C.N. together with the company’s nine digit number.

The 3 Different Type of Common Seals

Here at Adams Rubber Stamps, we offer you three types of common seals. We have the Traditional Common Seal, the Self Inking Common Seal and lastly, the Folding Handle Common Seal.

Traditional Common Seal

The Traditional Common Seal is simply just like the traditional rubber stamp. What makes it different is its design which follows a particular format and is unique since it has the full company name together with the company’s nine digit number. The Traditional Common Seal is available in 38mm x 38mm size.

Self-Inking Common Seal

The Self Inking Common Seal is a self inking stamp that follows a particular format that is required for common seals. Unlike the Traditional Common Seal, the Self Inking Common Seal does not require a stamp pad therefore it is easy and not messy to use. The Self Inking Common Seal is available in 15mm x 30mm size.

Folding Handle Common Seal

The Folding Handle Common Seal is similar to the Traditional Common Seal in terms of operation; you need an ink pad to make an imprint. What makes the Folding Handle Common Seal different from Traditional Common Seal is the appearance of its handle. The handle is movable between two folded positions and can be operated by placing the handle in the middle of the two folded positions. The Folding Handle Common Seal is available in 15mm x 30mm size. Now that you have been informed what Common Seals are, you might be so eager to have one made for your company.
